Our Vision

The vision of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) is Christ-led Disciples, Making Disciples.

Christ-Led Disciples

Our vision is rooted in a desire to become fully mature disciples of Christ. Discipleship is the expression of Jesus in one’s life and is based on a relationship with Him. It is not about Biblical knowledge alone, but also a life-long transformation of becoming like Christ. This process can only happen through the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. The BCM facilitates discipleship through small group environments that allow students to grow into maturing believers and followers of Christ. We commit to intentionally praying, training, and encouraging one another in becoming Christ-led disciples.

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.  -Colossians 2:6-7

Making Disciples

Jesus’ words give purpose to those who choose to follow Him as His disciples. Jesus Himself called His disciples to be disciple makers in Matthew 28:18-20, also known as the "Great Commission".  Disciple making can simply be described as the task of sharing the gospel and teaching responders to obey biblical teaching. This occurs when we learn to listen to those we are living life with and help point them to God. Disciple making involves not only imparting knowledge and experience, but also modeling and teaching spiritual disciplines in our relationships with others. We are most effective in disciple making when we ourselves are being nurtured by other disciple makers. At the BCM this occurs through weekly community groups, corporate worship, and one-on-one time with other students.

But whoever keeps His word, truly in him the love of God is perfected.
This is how we know we are in Him: The one who says he remains
in Him should walk just as He walked.  -1 John 2:5-6
